Job Summary:
The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing direct patient care and support under the supervision of a registered nurse or nurse manager. The CNA will assist with daily living activities, observe, and report changes in patients' conditions, and provide comfort and support to patients and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care as assigned by the registered nurse or nurse manager.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Serve meals and assist patients with eating as needed.
- Assist with turning, positioning, and transferring patients to and from beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.
- Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Observe and report changes in patients' conditions to the registered nurse or nurse manager.
- Maintain patient records and documentation as directed.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and safe patient environment.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
- Participate in patient care conferences and team meetings as needed.
- Attend in-service training and educational programs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant in the state of employment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a CNA or in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and move patients, as well as stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to perform tasks that require bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Must be able to push and pull equipment and supplies.
- Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in a healthcare facility.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials is possible.
- May be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
